My name is Darya Khan and my father’s name is Haji Malik Rasool. I am from Sayed Abad village and currently employed as the director of Saydabad district development assembly (DDA). I was informed through an official letter by AABRAR team in Saydabad district for this training.
They told me that, AABRAR will conducted 6 days project management training and provide 4 days technical assistance, total 10 days consecutive training for the DDA members. The project is financiallysupportedby ASI/DAI for the 18 DDA member of Saydabaddistrict. Also, I was informed that the training will be provided in the topics such as; (I) Project Initiation (Project Starting) (II) Project Planning (III) Project Execution (IV) Project Closure
I was very happy for the implementation of such beneficial workshop for Sayed Abad DDA members because there is a great need for such capacity building trainings in order to increase the capacity of the district development assembly members to understand the basics on how to implement a certain project for the benefits of their people in their vicinities.
The team of AABRAR requested from us to prepare a list of 18 DDA members from Sayed Abad in order to undergo 10 days Project Management training for AABRAR.
After that, I called for a meeting with my Sayed Abad DDA members in order to discuss this project with them; when I shared the information of the project with my staff, they were very much interested to take part in the training and build their capacity for the mentioned topics that were already requested by the DDA members. So, we made a list of participants for 18 DDA members who did not receive the same training previously and submitted to AABRAR team for further necessary action.
In addition, they told me that the training workshop will be held in Maydan Wardak’s Tribal and Boundaries’ directorate in Maydan Shahr and that the transportation cost will be covered by AABRAR. I shared the same information with my DDA members and they were all happy and agreed with the location of the training as well as the provision of transportation cost.
The training started from 10th April 2012, and I also participated in the training; even though I have already participated in other trainings but I and my friends were quite new with this program. However, before starting the training, the master trainers took a test from us in order to assess our knowledge of understanding about the planned topics; I found it very hard to answer most of the test questions and also my other colleagues of the training were not able to answer those questions easily.
Hence, the trainers told us that this is only an assessment to find out your knowledge and level of understanding about the topics. They told us that, through this test we want to know your level of understanding and according to the trainees’ level of understating they will provide us training in the mentioned topics.
Furthermore, training started slowly and things were becoming clear as the topics were delivered and group works were performed. In fact, it was a nice experience for me to be a part of this training, the methods of the trainers were very fantastic, and they trained us gradually about the mentioned topics.
Slowly and steadily we went through the course and during the training, different types of course materials, like agenda of the training, presentation documents, notes, notebooks, pens, proposal writing book, and flipcharts were distributed among the participants in order to take benefit from them. These materials were very beneficial for us and we also used it in a proper way.
Besides this, the master trainers kept a friendly environment and open discussionswere made during training and each of the trainees shared their ideas openly about project management and asked questions from master trainers in the sessions.
However, now the training is finished, I can say that, the trainers have performed their duty in a very efficient way and informed us about all the topics mentioned in the program and we are fully aware of the topics.
Indeed, previously we had no idea aboutproject management, project implementation and project planning, but now we know the basics on how to implement a project, how to manage a project and the most important how you will plan for that.
So, I would like to suggest that, AABRAR should continue providing of such training to the other DDA members of this vicinity, in order to enable them to plan and implement small projects themselves in their own regions in Maydan Wardak.
Besides this, being the director of Sayed Abad DDA, I request from donor agencies to conduct such kind of capacity building programs for the youth unions of Sayed Abad district and provide vocational trainings for the underservedyouth of Sayed Abad.
Finally, with the provision of such trainings, good relations will be made with the local government and stability will come in our district by implementing of such projects in the district of Sayed Abad.
